Anti-vibration mounts and sheeting protect workers and machines
Vibration and noise are major factors in the deterioration of machines and buildings in industry. This can lead to loss of precision and quality and reduce the lifespan of machines. It can also cause health issues for employees.
Excessive noise causes permanent damage to hearing, either through sudden exposure or over a long period of time. It is the legal duty of employers to protect those working in noisy places, such as factories and foundries, and with plant and machinery. Under the Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005 action must be taken if daily or weekly exposure to noise is at or in excess of Exposure Action Levels of between 80dB and 85dB and daily or weekly exposure must not exceed 87dB.
Employers must first try to eliminate or reduce exposure to noise by means other than hearing protection. There are a number of ways this can be achieved. Over the years Dexine Rubber Technologies has developed a range of products to help reduce the negative effects of vibration and noise; from Vibradex a cross ribbed anti-vibration sheeting to rubber-metal bonded anti-vibration mounts. These are used in a wide range of industries and are ideal for engines, generators, machines, pumps, compressors and power transformers.
Vibradex’s cross ribbing is the key to its success; vibration that would otherwise be transmitted from the machine to the floor is deflected and cushioned by the ribs flexing into their own air space. For really heavy or excessive shock absorption multiple layers of pads interleaved with steel plates offer an excellent solution.
Dexine produces a wide range of anti-vibration mounts, which are available in many shapes and sizes. In addition, the company specialises in bespoke anti-vibration mounts built to customer specification.
The company currently supplies anti-vibration mounts to the automotive, construction, engineering, aerospace, rail and marine industries. Dexine also has a long history of supplying navies around the world and is one of the British MOD’s longest-standing suppliers.
Vibration and noise create problems in many industries, causing deterioration in machinery, buildings and performance, as well as posing serious harm to health. Dexine has created a range of rubber products to address these challenges.
